No records of her dad parish date - I have found immigration records traveling between the UK and USA and trips from USA to South Africa. One of the documents refer to Maria as British and the document state she was born in the UK- but single and with the Smith party:-)- Something interesting during that time was if you want to travel as a lady, single ladies struggle to migrate due to the cost of travel for a single person on a ship. Furthermore, I cannot find anything on her husband (Smith) when she married James Weeks. Maybe she just use his surname to travel cheaper- I do have noticed records regarding a Smith party- group that came into South Africa- This is currently a lot of guessing and can only share the info available but cannot link any.
